Award-winning trombonist and vocalist Joe Vanable is a musician with a passion for combining his roots in twentieth-century jazz with the new sounds of today. A native of Syracuse, NY, Vanable began to sing and play the piano at a young age, and today takes inspiration from the likes of Quincy Jones, Marvin Gaye, and J.J. Johnson.
Vanable received his B.A. in Jazz Studies from Michigan State College of Music’s top ranked jazz performance program. He has performed, recorded, and/or shared the stage with greats such as Jacob Collier, The Temptations, Ron Carter, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Wayne Newton, Melissa Aldana, Michael Phillip Mossman, Carl Allen, Rodney Whitaker, and Etienne Charles, among others.
Vanable is featured on Henry Jamison and Jacob Collier’s upcoming single Third Person. His debut record, Wanderer’s Rest, is set to release in June of 2024. He gigs regularly throughout New York as a bandleader, sideman, and educator.
