Joe Vanable is a vocalist, trombonist, and songwriter with a passion for combining his roots in twentieth-century jazz with the new sounds of today. A native of Syracuse, NY, Vanable began to sing and write songs at a young age, and today writes music that is rooted in jazz, blues, and popular music.
Vanable received his B.A. in Jazz Studies from Michigan State College of Music’s top ranked jazz performance program. He has performed, recorded, and/or shared the stage with greats such as Jacob Collier, The Temptations, Ron Carter, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Wayne Newton, Melissa Aldana, Michael Phillip Mossman, Carl Allen, Rodney Whitaker, and Etienne Charles, among others.
Vanable is featured on Henry Jamison and Jacob Collier’s upcoming single Third Person. His debut record, Orange Door, is set to release in June of 2025. He gigs regularly throughout New York as a bandleader, sideman, and educator. Vanable’s newest band recently secured a weekly residency at the Hoxton Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where audiences can catch them every Saturday night from 7-10pm.
